Who am I?

Pre-Eminence Nkomo
Entering a new phase of life was extremely daunting but at the time I felt that I had a good sense of who I am as a person and I thought that that would help me propel myself through university. Little did I know that I knew very little about myself. Entering this new space, I thought I was a very quiet, soft spoken young lady who would move mountains to help others regardless of how they treat her. Within the first month I found myself asking myself “who am I”

Being a member of the Tuks Res Women in Leadership Academy did help me discover who I am (well as best as I possibly could). Being exposed to so many different personalities and different events that dealt with real life issues such as the Gender Based Violence event helped me a lot in discovering who I am.

I am the woman I am today mostly because of the things I have learnt through the academy. I discovered that I am a resilient person who gives her all into whatever she does. Thanks to the content sessions on Feminism I have been able to easily identify myself properly as an intersectional feminist. I have discovered that I am an outgoing person, I discovered this thanks to the various events I attended that allowed me to network with various people that I most probably would not have interreacted with on an ordinary day.

I am the woman I am to day thanks to TRWLA and I do hope more women join the academy and will be able to discover parts of themselves that will make them better people who are well equipped to face whatever challenge life will throw at them.
